In this post I will be reviewing SumoJerky which is a beef jerky of the month club. The guy that is the CEO started this company to bring small batch beef jerky makers to the masses. As a lover of beef jerky I’m a total sucker when it comes to seeing homemade beef jerky at a checkout counter. I love trying new beef jerky recipes and checking out all the different flavors and consistencies.

I found that the pricing can be expensive if you are going with just the 1 package of jerky per month but when you get into the 3 bag or 6 bag autoship the price seems to be very reasonable for gourmet beef jerky.

This is gourmet beef jerky so don’t expect to be getting that crap that you can go out and buy at Wal Mart.

SumoJerky Is In!!

So I finally got my delivery of SumoJerky this weekend, from the time that I signed up until the time that it got delivered was about 10 business days so that seems pretty reasonable. I think it seemed longer because I was really looking forward to trying this out. I used the Sumo Jerky coupon code and received a free bag of jerky with the order. In this order there were 2 different types of jerky from 2 different Jerkier’s (not sure if that’s a real thing). I have my own dehydrator and make my own jerky so I love trying different Jerky makers.

The Club

I like the concept of getting gourmet jerky delivered to me every month and here’s why. Even after my first month of Sumojerky I have found 2 beef jerky makers that I never would have found. The price for 3 bags of jerky through SumoJerky is actually quite competitive to getting these straight from the makers but if you add in free shipping it’s a little cheaper. So not only are you getting a good price on beef jerky, you are actually getting such a variety of places that you can then go and re-order your favorites through the makers website. I love beef jerky but I don’t think that I would be scouring the internet for new beef jerky makers so for me Sumo Jerky is a true value. I would recommend that anyone that loves beef jerky try out SumoJerky for at least a month and I think that You’ll be hooked especially if you are on a low carb diet and looking for low carb friendly snacks.

Eddy’s Beef Jerky

The first bag of jerky that I tore into was made by a company called Eddy’s beef jerky out of Colorado. I visited their website and it looks like they make 3 different flavors: Original, Holypeno and Holy Ghost. The one that SumoJerky sent me was the Holypeno flavor. This jerky has some great flavor and as you can guess from the name it’s spicy. I would give he spicyness a 4 on a scale of 1-10. The flavor hit you right when you put it in your mouth and lasted a long time. It would be tough for me to describe the flavor but I would have to guess that this jerky is marinated for a while before it’s dehydrated. The dryness was pretty consistent throughout the bag and the pieces were large. I would have no problem giving this jerky a 9 on a scale from 1-10. As far as carbs go this probably isn’t the best choice if yo are on a no carb day because this jerky has 5g of carbs.

Peoples Choice Beef Jerky

This jerky is a great choice for your no carb days because this jerky is listed as having 0g of carbs per serving. The flavor that I received was the original flavor. This jerky has some good flavor but not a strong as the first jerky that I tried. This is more of a traditional flavor which is slightly peppery and salty. It does have some spicyness to it, on a scale of 1-10 I would give it a 2. The dryness of this jerky varied throughout the bag and ranged from dry to medium. One of the first pieces that I tried was on the moist side but after that piece it was dry to medium. Overall I would give this jerky a 7 on a scale form 1 to 10.
